In this blog, we’re sharing five dog products we love and why we encourage you to try them with your dogs. As dog walkers, we’re experts on what works and what doesn’t when walking a dog. Having tried various harnesses, collars, etc. I have come to realize that very few dog walking products on the market do what they say they’re going to do while simultaneously considering the dog’s comfort and safety.

For this reason, we do not use aversive or punishment-based methods or equipment. In this week’s blog, we want to share the five dog products we avoid and why you should too.

Introduced by Pet Sitters International (PSI) in 1995, Professional Pet Sitters Week™ takes place annually the first full week of March. Per PSI, “this annual observance honors professional pet-care providers, seeks to educate the pet-owning public about the advantages of professional in-home pet care, and encourages pet-loving entrepreneurs to explore professional pet sitting as a viable career.”

Fear Free Pets® was founded in 2016 by one of the United State’s most widely respected veterinarians, Dr. Marty Becker. Dr. Becker is referred to as “America’s Veterinarian” because, throughout his career, he has worked tirelessly to advance the veterinary profession, advocate for rescue, and improve the care of companion animals in our country and abroad.

We believe that all dogs deserve training and education, no matter their stage in life. Many pet parents, especially those blessed with well-behaved pups, think that training is something that is done in puppyhood or when troubleshooting behavior problems. The truth is, however, that dogs of all ages can benefit from training. Dogs enjoy exercising their minds and bodies. They also enjoy being rewarded for a job well done. No matter how old your dog is, there is a good chance that they could be taught additional skills, tricks, and behaviors that improve their lives and yours.
