Recently, we had the pleasure of joining Chick-fil-A to support animal welfare in Yorktown. From participating in their 5th Annual Dog Days of Summer event to donating toward Peninsula Animal Shelter’s Clear the Shelter campaign, we believe supporting animal welfare in Coastal Virginia is an integral part of our company’s mission. We also believe in celebrating the community that makes Yorktown, Poquoson, Newport News, and Hampton a wonderful place to call home!
Chick-fil-A’s Annual Dog Days of Summer
This summer was our third time participating in Chick-fil-A’s Dog Days of Summer. The event, which took place over three Saturdays in July, was meant to connect Yorktown’s pet-loving community. The event brought together over 500 happy pups in Chick-fil-A Victory Boulevard’s Drive-Thru.
On July 26th, they ended the series with a special Donation & Adoption event. Thanks to their efforts, four dogs found their forever homes through Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter!
Hearts at Home Pet Sitting donated $500 to cover adoptions during that event, but, because their campaign was so successful, PeninsulaRegional Animal Shelter saved the funds and is allocating them toward an adoption drive that is happening now. Read more on this below!
We are grateful for the opportunity to partner in this fun community initiative. From sharing our cute goodie bags for dogs to enjoy to sponsoring adoptions, we are thrilled to support local animal welfare whenever possible!
Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter “Clear the Shelter”
All of the dogs adopted from the Chick-fil-A event had their adoption fees covered by generous sponsors, including Pawpular Pets Grooming, Salty Paws Vet, Streamline Roofing, and yours truly, Hearts and Home Pet Sitting!
Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter has our donation check and is planning to use it for their current Clear the Shelters promotion. Because the adoptions are already discounted during this promotion, our funds will help get even more pets adopted!

Joining Chick-fil-A to Support Animal Welfare in Yorktown
One of the things I’m most passionate about is animal welfare. I have always been an advocate for pet adoptions, kind and gentle pet parenting, and responsible pet guardianship. Participating in local events such as these fills my heart with joy. Supporting our local community of pets is central to our mission, and every one of your pet care visits allows us to donate much-needed funds to deserving shelters and rescues in our area.
